The role
The Financial Times is seeking a talented and highly motivated Group Reporting Financial Accountant to join our dynamic finance team in London. This is a unique opportunity to work with a renowned global media organization and contribute to the financial reporting and analysis of the company's global operations.
This role is based in the Group Reporting team of the Finance function of the FT in London, and works in partnership with regional finance teams and Business Analysts who manage specific business lines. The post holder will ensure the accurate, timely and relevant processing of financial data to ensure the consolidated monthly results are reported on time, with continuous improvement in the quality and reliability of submission.
This role represents an ideal opportunity for someone with 2-3 years post-qualified experience looking to step up and lead the implementation of a number of projects, before expanding their remit more widely into a well-rounded reporting role with exposure to lots of commercial opportunities.
The tasks include:
- Completing month end processes, including journals entries and account reconciliations
- Supporting the Group Reporting Manager in the completion of monthly consolidation activities, particularly transfer pricing and fixed assets.
- Helping to develop models and methods to simplify the process of transfer pricing
- Assistance in completing year-end and half year reporting, analysing results to complete statutory requirements for Nikkei.
- Learning the consolidation process for the group and working alongside subsidiaries to gather financial data and ensure accuracy in the Group’s consolidated statements
- Preparation and review of statutory accounts for the Group
- Liaising closely with the tax team for both statutory reporting and transfer pricing
- Liaising across the business to successfully meet all external audit needs
- Involvement in key finance projects such as potential acquisitions, systems enhancements, and adoption of new standards
- Helping embed our new Oracle Fusion system across the finance function
- Conducting in-depth financial analysis and provide insights to senior management regarding financial performance, variances and trends
- Working closely with and coaching our team in Manila
About You
- You are a qualified accountant with prior experience in the preparation of consolidated group accounts and audit.
- Ideally a minimum of two years post-qualified experience.
- Excellent analytical and technical financial skills, with the ability to diagnose and apply appropriate techniques to the resolution of business issues. Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP and a desire to keep up to date with changes and how they affect the FT.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and persuade through personal credibility, integrity and professionalism.
- Organisation and planning skills with the ability to deal effectively with both short term imperatives and long-term planning.
- Enthusiasm, resilience, drive and commitment, with the ability to work effectively in a constantly changing and pressured environment.
- Strong Excel skills are fundamental to this role, and experience of Oracle will be advantageous.
